why does my cb radio.............

well i have had this off and on problem will driving and it has always been at odd times and places. meaning no rhyme or reason. out of the blue the truck would go to full throttle and then would be normal again after i hit the brakes. it has been doing this for about a year or so. but it has not done it since i can remember and the other day it did it again. i was on the freeway and this big rig was in the hammer lane and would not move over. i turned on my cb and tried to tell him that it was clear to move over and when i keyed the mic the truck accelerated. now when i say it accelerated i mean it went like a bat out hell and i think that it was more than if i just stuffed my foot the floor. did not put the 2 together at first until after about three times then realized that everytime i keyed the mic it wou do it. the amount of acceleration directly coincides with how long i key the mic. i did some more thinking and the cb may have been on and or in use the other times also.
the quadzilla box is under the steering colum and the coax for the cb runs through the same boot in the fire wall and the harness for the q box. oh, i need to add that it does not do it with the box turned of.
any ideas as to why this would occur?
and sorry for the long winded post too.

Is your CB stock or has it been boosted up towards 50 watts?

I have talked to several people with quad products, that have the same problem that you are experiencing. Quad has dealt with it as far as I understand, but you are going to want to talk to him about it.

normal with quad stuff. i have heard them advise you to wrap it in aluminum foil............ try to move it as far away from the cb, coax, and antenae as you can.

Dittto..........you need to seperate your coax and the wiring harness for the Quad box, or isolate the Quad wiring harness from the coax.
It's always a good idea to isolate your coax (especially if runnin higher power) from any other power wires or signal wires of any kind.

they call it RFI, radio frequency interferance. i had a GM pickup with a full length ladder rack on his truck and every time he drove under high voltage power lines he truck died. i ended up having to ground his ladder rack to the batter to get it to stop dieing on him

I have a friend from college who went the electronics route whereas I went the power route. He got into some work designing wireless stuff and can make some crazy things happen. When he turned his transmitter on he could vary the power and screw with just about anything. The coolest I thought was having LED's light up while laying in their shipping bag about 10' from the transmitter. He'll screw your cell phone, tv, radio, etc up big time. He's one of the smartest people I have ever met in my life, right now hes getting his PhD in Electrical Engineering.

I expect him to develop brain cancer about any time now.
