Why is Diesel going up
Diesel is now .55 higher than regular here in L A County whith explanation why.

News just stated that gas will be going up over $4.00 a gallon.......said the refineries are concentrating on diesel and shipping it to S. America. Sell it cheap there and charge the heck out of us.

Lots of diesel is being exported to Europe to replace lost oil from Libya.
When politicians talk of "energy independence" it's nothing but a crock.
Oil and fuel prices are set on global demand.
Oil companies will always sell their products to the highest bidder, they have no rules or incentives to keep their fuel in the US.

So you can help keep those people in the east part of the US warm this winter in heating oil. I've been hauling fuel for 28 yrs now & it's the same song & dance every year.

All above as well as the ULSD requirment. Required more refining and then it stips the natual lube our IP want so they have to put additives back in. So thier cost has gone up some to make it as well. Other countries don't require ULSD so it just make sense to sell to the other countries as well so supply for the US is short. Plus the road tax is higher on Diesel since they are evil to the govt clean air people but know we have to get some money from the big trucks since that is the only way things move around the country since the rail industy has declined.

And don't forget the 5% bio we are mandated to have in our diesel here in Oregon. That also adds to the cost because it isn't cost effect to produce & niether is the 10% ethenol we are useing here.

Every fall diesel goes up. The Home Heating Oil and diesel are pretty much the same base stock. When the refineries start gearing up for winter there is less emphasis on motor fuels, and the price goes up. Couple that with reformulating the motor fuels for colder weather and ca-ching ca-ching

Other countries don't require ULSD
Most diesel exports go to Europe which has required ULSD for much longer than the US.
They didn't really start importing our diesel until we had ULSD to offer them.

Add the fact that oil is getting closer to 100.00 a barrel everyday now. I think it hit 98.50 yesterday.
At least my Yoga Grab Yer Ankles move is paying off.
