Why am I smelling diesel?

I swapped my injectors out, and occasionally get a good snootful of diesel.
I retorques the retainer nuts, and even replaced the o-rings on my connector tubes.
Any help is appreciated.

Check your oil and make sure you don't have fuel in your oil. This sometimes happens if you don't get a connector tube seated correctly or an o-ring gets damaged.

I couldn't detect any diesel odor in my oil. I did see there's a tsb for 98 trucks, about replacing the connector tubes with the later style. I'll grab a set at work and give them a try.

Maybe you are smelling Oil not Diesel which is normal after a oil change
for a long time.

My guess is you are using Rotella motor oil...the additives in the oil give off a pretty good stink until you run it long enough to cook them out of the oil. Usually a couple hundred miles will do the trick

Pretty much a normal occurence with that brand of oil.

Why are you smelling diesel?

I don't know. Maybe you are too cheap to buy spray paint like the teenagers use?

HAHA, funny.

Did some searching and there is a TSB on my year truck(98). They say the 98 24 valve tubes are not meant to be retorqued, and that you should upgrade to the later tubes. I will order them at work tomorrow.

True. There's a certain engine serial number after which the new tubes were factory installed. This is only on the 1998 trucks.

I think www.dodgeram.org has the details...

Ordered my tubes today, they should be in tomorrow.

Todays newest discover;
I left work to shoot home to let the directv guy in, and my truck didn't start right up like usual. It acted like whenever I crack open the fuel system and have to build prime. It also seemed like it was "lopey". I checked and I have a visible leak on #6.

Guess I'll know tomorrow if it was the tubes. With my pricing my tubes were like $25 apiece Retail must be terrible.

Check around your fuel filter housing. I have "crap" in the tank that I'm going to clean up after dropping the tank tomorrow - and it causes the fuel filter to get really dirty really quick. The crap gets into and around the rubber seal on the filter canister, and can cause a slight leak. May not even be enough to drip, but if there's even a slight bit leaking from that canister, you'll get a nose-full.
