2003 diesel dodge I stopped for coffee and out of my exhaust pipe it sounded like it was running rough.20 minutes later a ticking noise from engine while driving THEN white smoke out the exhaust??The oil pressure was normal and the temp was normal I could smell diesel when I shut it off Immediatly.Anyone have any ideas what this could be??

I Never Checked My Oil But I Think It Has Been A Little High. Injectors Were Changed 30.000 Km Ago Truck Has 310 Kms. Oil Was Changed 2 Weeks Ago

checked oil about 1"1/2 over full line, but doesn,t taste like diesel or smell diesel on dip stick

To my knowledge, white smoke is an indicator of overfueling injectors and the overfull oil level could mean the same thing...I'd start by getting the injectors checked...Ben

The injectors used on common rail engines use an electromagnet or piezo acutators to open the injector. This means that the spring that closes the injector cannot be stronger than the acutator. Exotic materials are used to make this system work, but they are quite failure prone (compared to fuel pressure operated injectors of older rigs)

White smoke usually indicates that an injector is not sealing off after it's injection cycle, and fuel is leaking out during the cycles it should not. White smoke as a rule in diesels is from unburnt fuel. Extreme cold can make the fuel not completely burn in a mechanically sound engine until it warms up a little, and condensation can make white "smoke" as the exhaust warms up and burns it off.

My guess is you have a leaky injector. If it leaks BAD it can fill the crank case from relieving all the pressure in the rail on top of the piston. The piston can hold some without leaking in the crank case because there is a pocket directly under the injector in the piston head.

Well we rolled it over, ran really rough then bang and I shut it off, now it won,t roll over I only tried it for a second?? cylinder full of diesel ??

found a broken valve hole in piston all from a injector 7500.00$ later

I always learn everything the hard way. Now I,m looking for a better fuel filtre system something with a lower micron than the stock but talking to BD power going 2 micron I will restrict my fuel pressure to much ??

If you are running the stock canister pump...yes. Otherwise I would just google cat 2 micron fuel filter and you will find a TON of info on it.

OK is there a CAT fuel filter that will drop into the stock fuel filter cap? Also I have been a little white smoke when I put my foot in to it. So say I have a injector starting to go bad, how would I tell which injector is going out or if that is a problem? Thanks
