Which pusher pump?
Ok, here's the deal. I'm on my third lift pump and this one is slowly dying just like the last two. Started with 13 1/2 at idle, 12 cruising and 10 wot. Now it's at 11/10/7. I've just about had my fill with changing the lift pump every 6 to 10 months. I think it's time for a pusher pump. I don't want to spend $600 for the FASS system. What is a good pusher pump to use that comes in a kit form to install on my truck?

Holley blue and rubber lines (10mm id) from tank to fuel filter, from the filter to the VP44 a part of wildcat's max flow system. No more banjo bolts.
Works for me, if I needed more lift pump I could switch to a bigger holley without any problem (or to about any other make of pump, 10mm rubber hose ziptied to the frame rail is easily rerouted)

Is there a pump kit that just splices into the stock fuel lines back by the tank and pushes fuel up to the stock lift pump? I have this fear of the pusher pump dying without the stock lift pump to take over. Or is just the pusher pump the way to go? Will just putting a pusher pump without all the bigger lines give me good enough pressure?

Getting a pump without the lines will help. However the bigger lines at the same pressure (as the smaller lines) means more flow. Reason most people upgrade the lines is that it is easy to do while you are in there playing with the pump.
As mentioned above, I don't run the stock lift pump at all. If things go wrong, I get to the nearest Advanced Auto and swap out for a new Holley Blue. If I am "out there", I swap in the stocker I took out then go to Advanced.

has anybody thought of putting a eletric pump off a medium or heavy-duty truck on your trucks? like maybe off an isx,60 series detriot, or dt 466. I dont know if they have elecric pumps but would guess the do because they are computer controlled. just a thought i havent heard of anybody even mentoin this.

well idea ive had, and im not exactly sure what the hollys and what not are, but why not put a electric gear pump back there? regulate pressure if needed, doubt thed die too quick

I know $600 for the F.A.S.S is a lot of money and I didnt want to send it either but with the DD2s and comp on 5x5 i could pull the fuel pressure to 3psi in 4 seconds. I installed the F.A.S.S and I can't get it below 15 PSI. It is one serous pump. Buy it once and forget it.

Tie a Holley Red pump (7 psi, 97 gph) into the stock lines for a good solution. With a Holley Red pushing up to the stock lift pump you won't have any more fuel system worries. On my '01.5 (see the sig for the performance numbers) I couldn't pull that combo below 12 psi at WOT. My dad's 02 is setup almost identically and can't pull below 13psi at WOT. Another buddy of ours has twins, TST PM3 comp with a Edge EZ stacked and BD3 injectors (dynoed almost 500 hp) and can't pull his 16 psi westach gauge off it's peg. All of our lines were upgraded to -6 or -8 SS braided lines, but it is not necessary. Going to the bigger lines will gain you 3-5 psi, but with your lower fueling it's not really necessary. Best of all, the Red pump, 2 compression fittings, 4 straight fittings, and 2 3/8 to -6 adapters will cost you about $150. We have never had a problem or failure with this setup in about a year of running it, and we're installing two systems for local guys this weekend. Feel free to PM me if you'd like more information.

MCummings of www.LaredoPerformanceDiesel.com is selling a Holly Blue kit that really does a good job and is easy to install. The Holly Blue is holding up quite well and has no problem supporting 500+ HP.

Wow, I forgot about this post I started. I ordered Scotty's Smart Fuel System and I am thinking of going with the Holley blue pump in the future...so Scotty included fittings with my order so I could splice the pump in at a later date. Thanks Scotty. I hope to receive the kit by this weekend and do the install.
