Smarty on fuel saver setting does a great job. However, you will need to monitor that automatic trans closely. You might also need a boost fooler elbow to get the pressure. I don't know if you have a wastgate or not.

my first was a powerpuck... it was OK but didn't notice much while towing...
recently got a smarty & had it on #3... OMG, i only towed my trailer to storage, but, holy cow what a difference... i currently have the smarty set to #4 & stacked w/powerpuck & it is unreal empty... i won't being going higher until i have further upgrades... can't wait to pull the trailer again... BTW, the smarty has bumped up my empty MPG 1.5-2.0

Your truck info doesn't say what gears you have, nor do you state what weight trailer you are towing. If you have 4:10 gears , all you need is a mild bump in HP. (like a edge or a power puck) If you have 3:54 gears , with those taller tires you should think of beefing up your auto before you strain it too much. A more powerfull fueling box will be nice , but for towing you need just a little more torque. ( just my $.02)

x2 on the XZT+. A great versatile box w/tons of different software applications avail for download to fit your needs. Don't get me wrong, a Smarty is great but the XZT+ is priced at about half the cost. JMO.

I was in the same boat as you.. and went with an edgeEZ then got gauges and a pillar pod, time I was all said and done I spent 700+ (Canadian prices) It made a huge difference in towing, and everyday driving, Then I went with Edge juice/Attitude, it comes with a monitor and the ability to set warnings (alarm if you exceed things like EGT/ fuel pressure etc) It gives 120hp if you tap the VP or just 60hp(same as an EZ) if you dont, trust me dont waste your hard earned money buying things twice. The Edge J/A cost almost the same as what I spent on a 60hp box and mechanical gauges, and you get so much more with a better box. unless you get the stuff used you might as well buy the better box from the get go. Quad makes good stuff to, but I've never used it, and can only speak for what I've used.

I'm looking awfully hard at that edge juice and attitude. My only concern is too much power. I don't want to rebuild trannies and upgrade clutches nor do I want a bigger turbo, blah, blah, blah. A nice 4" exhaust and my stock clutch and NV5600. Is the Juice gonna be too much for me?

Even if you do tap the pump you can always just turn the box down, if your not gonna tap the pump you might as well just get the EZ or something similar and save your money.
