Which Mod First? Help me decide guys

Allright I got smoked by a newer stock Dodge, it sucks having a truck with all the bark and no bite (straight piped), everyone thinks it's hopped up. So anyways, I know what my dream list of stuff is for the truck; TST, injectors, B1, con fe, wallbro, but which should I do first? I will be doing gauges. How about the TST Powermax CR first? Is this too much chip? Can I handle it without a new clutch or fuel? Does this truly just do timing and duration? I have been thinking of doing injectors 1st but I think the TST might be most bang for the buck for 1st mod. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Gotta know what you are starting with before you mess with any fueling mods.

Get the TST... it will feed the addiction and you will then have to buy gauges. Its the gateway baby! Gauges aint gonna do crap for your trucks bite - it'll only make the bark louder, ya know what im saying???

Bats fly blind, and they do just fine...

Gauges are over rated - get some power first. Get some bang for the buck, then worry about monitoring. Just dont go 10x10 or something.

I have no gauges, and I have truck pulled, will hammer down anytime, anywhere - and I never worry about gauges, only my tranny - thats my limiting factor as of now.

I have NEVER heard or seen evidence of a mildly mod'd truck hurting the turbo from EGTs going too high. Have you? If so, please show me... I would really like to see, not tryin to be a punk or anything - I just really would like to see some damage to a stock truck from a mild programmer or box.

!st you Def need More Air. that comes first. u have the pipe now u just need air to go threw it.

2-stroke....i agree I didnt have gauges for a long time with the bddl. but, once I got them i did realize I could drain the fuel pressure Pretty quick. thats not good. its nice to have gauges but I would say do intake and tuner first.........tst is a very LARGE and powerful thing though. dont go too long without gauges.

Actually, bats fly using sonar to locate prey & to avoid objects. They don't fly blind. Besides, you ever try to put guages on a bat?

yea, once I put one of the new 40 degree dopplar upshift transducers with sound wave rectifier on one... the little sucker couldnt even get airborn - it was hilarious!

You know I totally am for gauges, but, my brother in law is around 750 TQ on his truck and his turbo has been overheated so much that it is discolored, it still works, he's pushing 175,000, running strong. Anyways, more input on the TST would be great.

I was more thinking of just being informed as to what any particular modification is doing or not doing. Knowing what boost you are pushing at any given highway speed with a load on and how that effects your mileage.

So, how is it that you know when is is cool enoough shut down after "truck pulling", just guess?

And, just for the record, I think gauges are UNDER rated.

Just ask any 2nd Gen owner who stumbles upon this site for the first time cause they want to ask if anyone can tell them why their truck won't accelerate when they are pushing the go pedal, or why they just forked out $2K for a new VP-44.

I agree, no argument here, so lets here more about TST. One thing I forgot to ask was how safe do you guys think the TST is, am I going to be throwing codes or having problems with my truck running it? This is going to hopefully be a 300,000 mile truck for me.

That's because the higher EGT's melt pistons and cause other damage that doesn't affect the turbo.

Yes I have seen it with my own eyes, and if you are hammering down without gauges, you are likely exceeding safe limits for your engine. Ask Don M about high temps, he ran his 12 valve for some time over 600hp and when he tore into it, he found melted pistons

Thing is it still ran like a big Hoss, he did not know the engine was damaged.

Running a fueling mod without gauges is a foolish thing to do, why risk 10,000 worth of damage to an engine, when gauges can keep you from melting things down?
