Personally I have the tst power max 3 comp and hate it it does make good power and I mean alot it of too but it just comes on funny does not start to make power unless you are making boost which means hold on cause your going for a ride if you a every day driver truck I would recommend the edge comp withthe five stages it works very well and maybe just the regular power max but 3 with remote but I bet it is the same as the comp box on how it comes on But be sure you get gauges before you put any of these 2 boxes on They make lots of heat and real fast..Good luck and fill out your signature.... Thats just my .02

My god! That is the longest facsimile of a sentence I've ever read. J/K dieselman.

I have the Edge Comp and I love it. It's fully adjustable to enable the user the abilty to taylor it to your exact needs. And when the T/C locks up it really pulls hard.

BTW texasturbo you may want to fill in your sig, so that the other guys can give you the best recommendation based upon your hardware.

I have the Edge Comp Drag version & i love it.I tried the TST Competition box & i hated it.The surging on the upper levels & severe pump shudder upon deceleration were enough for me to go back to the Edge box.Make your choice & remember if your not satisfied the company you bought if from they will probably work with you & do their best to make you happy.Rod from WildCat Diesel is a great guy to deal with & i think he handles both Edge & TST give him a hollar & he'll take care of you.

Well, edge has a more powerful version of the comp. It's called the comp drag. You buy the comp and then send it back for a firmware update. So, instead of de-fueling at 2700rpm it continues to fuel aggressively all the way to like 3200 rpm. I'm sure some other folks will jump in and give you there input.

Is there any piercing of wires with the Edge Comp, or is it just plug 'n play ?

Moose all the Fuel boxes require piercing the wire , On the VP44
The other boxes like the EZ are not really Fuel boxes they only add timing . Fools your map sensor .which raises your boost and gives you a little more power , I basically want to tear stuff up ..like my tranny.. so i want more than a plug in box. I tried the EZ and a Superchips and couldnt really tell any difference in the seat of pants department.

The EZ should give you a noticable difference. When I had my comp, I had it hooked up like an EZ(no pump wire) and it really moved.

Blue i couldnt tell much with the EZ ,Thats why im going with the Comp or something else. there isnt much difference in the prices anymore . Did you ever do the pump wire? If so what then ? Why did you take the Comp Off?
Just wondering why you dont have any magic boxes. Im running my warranty out which is really close then adding a pusher and cutting that %%% wire.

Nope. The EZ is a fueling and timing box, plus a boost fooler. The EZ intercepts the fueling command on the CANbus from the ECM to the VP-44 and tells the VP-44 to give more fuel than called for by the ECM. In effect, it could actually trick the ECM into calling for more fuel than it normally would by telling the ECM that more boost is present and/or the accelerator position is more "open" than is really the case. That's why it plugs into the CANbus.

The difference between the EZ and a wire-tap box is that the maximum amount of fuel the EZ can call for will never exceed the absolute maximum fueling limit programmed into the VP-44. By tapping the wire, however, the Comp, etc., are actually controlling the fueling solenoid in the VP-44 themselves downstream of the VP-44's software; therefore, they bypass the VP-44's maximum fueling limits programmed into the software.

We've made no secret that we feel the PM3 (either the Comp or standard) is the better of the two boxes. I'm not sure what "funny" means when the Competition box comes on, but it is extremely aggressive and will begin fueling by .5 PSI of boost. This is not a box for a daily driver truck, at least not in the higher power levels. The standard PM3 is less aggressive than the PM3 Comp, but still has a stouter bottom side power than an Edge Comp box.

The PM3 does have some tricks to it though. As was mentioned, it makes use of delta boost, same as a factory 03 ECM, to determine its fueling levels. This is both good and bad. Its good because you can rarely fuel above what your turbocharger can handle, at least on the bottom end. If you aren't making the boost, the box won't fuel, so you're not robbing a bunch of power and throwing a bunch of fuel out the tailpipe. However, if you use a slow spooling turbo, or a twin setup that doesn't spool up very quickly, the PM3 won't perform on the bottom side either. So your injectors/turbocharger need to be selected with the box in mind. You get the combination right, and, in our opinion, there isn't a better rigging.

Not nessacarily.

You can buy a Drag Comp Straight out. I've shipped a few out like that.

On the street, very little difference will be felt between the Normal COMP and Drag COMP, Especially with a small turbocharger, but on the track, it should be good for a tenth.

We can't do that anymore. On the old ones we could increase the stretch, but not anymore....If you find someone that has the old ones, they are pretty bad!
