Which Flux injectors for me?

My truck just hit 51,000 miles and I am thinking about going ahead and having Don take a look at them. This is the last thing I don't trust on my truck due to all of the injector stories about 04.5 trucks. I don't want any issues miles away from home, cause that will be my luck, NONE!!!! I do tow heavy and don't want a ton of smoke. I can always turn the electronics down just as a side note.

Anyways, what size should I go with. I am leaning towards Flux 1.4's but I am considering Flux 1.6's.

You said, " I do tow heavy and don't want a ton of smoke."

How is your coolant situation, can it handle 600+ ?

Half a dozen trucks running the streets 700+, but they cannot sustain that hp. Besides bragging right's, what's it good for?

Spooler, you seem to know a lot about this. I have read your post for years. You have a lot of knowlege. Prob. more than most out here. It seems wierd that I would be giving YOU advice, but my buddy has the 1.8's and he loves them. Not much for egt issues and says the truck pulls hard now. Pretty light on the smoke as well, but hes pushen more air. Not exact on the turbo size, but by looking at your sig, I would say you'd be fine. Just call up Don. I know you have his number.

Jason.

When I was towing with the HTT 62/71/13ss with Flux 2's I hated my truck. I mean hated it. I liked it when no Smarty in the mix, but with any level of Smarty (even level 1) it would coat my boat, my toy hauler, everything in soot. I got in the habit of running with just the injectors, which was fine most of the time. Without any additional timing it would get hot (EGT wise)..

Thought it was the turbo, pulled it, sent it back, changed gaskets, reinstalled, still same issue. Checked wastegate, working fine.. Blocked off wastegate, didn't help. Tried every imaginable setup on the Smarty and could never get it to not smoke while cruising the freeway (flat) under load without smoke.

I put a Van Aaken C-5 on just for towing. Didn't do the smoke thing anymore and got the EGT's under check some, but it was still annoying.

I finally went to twins and then the truck was great with the flux 2's. I'd go 1.5 or 1.6.

Not to get away from Spooler's question but what size F-1's would be about 110hp?

Thanks
Buddy

I think that you would be safe up to the 1.8's, no prob. I can tow with mine, up to about 10k is the heaviest that I have hauled so far, and I just used my foot as smoke control.

Spooler, I'm sending you a pm on this also...

1.8s will smoke with a load if you add extra fueling. Even with twins, I tend to run no electronics when towing my 5er so I don't coat the side of it black. It does weigh 13-15k depending on how loaded it is and the twins are small with the top one being the stock turbo, but with a 62 single, I would plan on staying away from injectors or plan on using no electronics while towing - that is if you want no smoke. The truck will run and tow great, don't get me wrong. I can run SW9 and the truck tows great, but the smoke is not controllable at that point at all.

I was shooting for realworld advice from folks who have already been there done that. Sounds like 1.4's may be too big. This is what I call doing my homework so to speak. I have read and read for a long time on this question and know about what I want to do but I just want to make sure. I really don't care to aggrivate Don with my measly little setup.

It's a diesel, it is gonna smoke some and I can live with that. I have tuned what I have now and love the setup. What I am looking for is a little more fuel to help spoolup. That will make it perfect.
