Which exhaust brake is the best

Hi all,
I am looking to put an exhaust brake in my 2000 2500 automatic and I was wondering which ebrake is the best bang for the buck.

Thanks

I have the Packbrake on my 2001 and am more than happy with it.

We had a couple of trucks running the D-cellerator seemed like a decent setup too. Had just as much hold back as the jakes, i really liked the 4" retarder option, ran a 100 degrees or so cooler on compression too. the one odd thing i knowticed in the records between it and our jake equipt dodges was a few less turbo failures. I am not sure how the two details are related if at all, it probably mainly can be chased back to lack of driver attention to E-temps while compressioning and in shut down.

Any thoughts comments anyone?

Hey Horse Hauler,

Did you notice any increase in your EGT's , when hauling over mountain passes?

I seem to have gained almost 200 degrees since installing my Jacobs.

Hi Javamann, the one thing you'll want to think about is how much your going to bomb your truck. If you really get into the mods and different turbo's you'll want to go with a inline exaust brake so you can run a bigger turbo with a different down pipe. If you go with a turbo mounted exaust brake you'll be limited on the turbo's you can run. Hope I'm correct on my advise but if not some one will slap some sence into me . by the way I've have the BD turbo mounted exaust brake for 3 year's and it works for me so far.

Pete, first things first. If you haven't upgraded your tranny you need to do that FIRST! As for me I like my Jacobs.

Roadranger, I too expirenced an increase in EGT's after installing my brake. They climbed alot faster than without the brake but it was nothing that a Proguard 7 and 4" exhaust didn't fix!

Hi Phil,
Yea, an ATS transmission is on my list of things to do. I can't do that for a month or two. Until then I can do minor mods. I want to put some new injectors in next.

You are absolutly correct about being limited.
That is where I'm at now.
I have a Banks Brake.
It works good but I want to change chargers and can't without changing brakes.
But 1 good point is that the Banks Brake does open you up to 4 in. at the housing instead of coming out 3 in. and adapting to 4 in.
I think that is the only thing that is letting me get by right now.
