Which coolant can we use??

My coolant is low, so I looked up the recommended fluid in the owner's manual. What is HOAT (Hybrid Organic Additive Technology)?? I looked at the store and I see Prestone's "All Model, All Makes" and GM's special stuff. Is there something relatively inexpensive that works in our CTDs?

Hoat is orange pinkish color and nonhoat is green in color. Do not mix the two, they have different PH levels and it could possibly cause a corrosive reaction.Look and see what color you have and stick with it. It is more and likely orange so buy a jug of long life diesel antifreeze, if its green get a jug of green diesel antifreeze.

I used Zerex in the gold plastic bottle. It's HOAT. It's pricey though; you'd think the bottle was made of gold!!

Zerex G-05 is HOAT. You can use Ford Gold coolant or get it from DC. Color is not standardized to the coolant type so don't go by that. Why the coolant loss?

I'm planning on changing mine this week. Going to replace the Dodge stuff with the Cat ELC.

You can use either, just dont mix. Either being the HOAT or Just the Plain Jane green stuff. wont hurt anything in anyway.

As long as it is in a Dodge any color is good on the Fords you need the high buck stuff , about 18.00 a gallon . With winter coming I was doing the same thing today , drained the 7.3 and put new in and check all the tractors , cars and trucks , let it snow . I don't know what a Duramax takes , is it a wet liner are dry ?

I'm way overdue for a flush, how many gallons does our trucks hold? I may try to find some pre-mixed gallons of HOAT just to simplify...

I like to use "Holy Water" to cut the undiluted coolant.
