which controller? Jordan Ultima, cable or hydraulic actuated unit

which brake controller? Jordan Ultima cable or a hydraulic actuated unit like Maxbrake? http://www.bestbrakecontroller.com/ http://www.southwestwheel.com/store/...-maxbrake.aspx

prodigy is inertia based, so I'd rather not use that. bad experience with inertia brake controllers. although loads of great feedback for prodigy.

please let me know... thanks,

I have the Jordan Ultima 2020. It's cable operated. At first it tended to hang up a bit in cold weather only. It was a cable alignment issue that I resolved. So far I've been very happy with it. I've used several other controllers including Prodigy and it's far and away the best. Very smooth operation that makes the truck and trailer feel like a single unit. Last I heard, production was suspended and they weren't available.

I've never tried a hydraulic controller, at least in the last 40 years, so can't give an opinion about them beyond saying they're pricey.

thanks for the feedback.... that's exactly the kind of info I need.

jordan ultima is $120 vs $350 for cheapest hydraulic
sounds they perform similar... has anyone used both hydraulic and cable (ultima)?

I love my Jordan and have never had any issues in the 3 years I've had it. Very smooth braking and it does feel like one unit. I also like the visual display to see how many amps are being thrown so you can diagnos a problem pretty quick. They recommend unhooking it(cable from brake) if you aren't going to be using it for a while but I never have and like I said, no problems. When (if) this goes I'll step up to a Max brake. If you can find one, definately go for it and I've also read that Campco bought them out and is supposed to come out with an updated version...we'll see.

supposed to be a completely redesigned unit with no cable. making for an easier install.

my problem is I need a good controller now... anyone got a jodan ultimate for sale
