Which air filter/intake?
Im going to start upgrading items on my new to me STOCK 91.5. Ive got a 4 inch exhaust and some gauges paicked out. I waana know about Airfilters. I want a BHAF with superior filtration. What Filter setups are you guys using? I saw an AFE on but it was HIGH priced IMHO for a 4"tube and cone filter. Any pros/cons welcome and appreciated. I was also looking at Amsoil filters. give me some ideas guys. I got tax free deployment cash burning my pocket up.
Thanks,
Zack

Bill,
How do you have it set up? Did you use the stock air hose between the filter and turbo? Where did you buy your outerwears?

I bought the outerwears right from outerwears just tell them the filter number and they knew just what to send me. I did not use the stock hose I made a complete custom aluminum setup to hold the filter. And I got a couple rubber 45 degree elbows and a 4" aluminum pipe to hook it all together. I will try to post a pic for you later.

I love my Amsoil dry filter, you don't have to wash and oil it, you just blow it out with air and put it back on. I'm also running the prefilter to keep bugs, snow, and water from getting in the filter. You can get them for a pretty good price too in a few different sizes. And yes, building your own intake is much cheaper and usually better than the aftermarket kits you can buy.
my intake is 6" using a piece of 6" aluminum pipe and a 4" to 6" 45* rubber elbow and a 6" amsoil filter. Right now i have another rubber piece adapting it to this big turbo since the inlet on it is 5".
heres what it looked like with my he351 turbo.
I'm thinkin I'll get a piece of 6" chrome (just part of a new stack) and use that for the intake pipe but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I run an amsoil dry filter as well and really like it. My intake is always clean and all I have to do is blow it out when the filter media gets dirty. I run the prefilter as well to keep chunks out of the filter.

[QUOTE=1STGENFARMBOY;2874273]I have about $100.00 in this set up, but i still need to build somthing to hold my filter.
Dar
Nice setup!
Dar, can you post where you got the parts for yours? I have been looking for the elbows to make one for one of my dads rigs. I have a ASA and he likes it. Where did you get those heavy duty elbows and what filter did you use? I might build one like yours for my RC project down the road. I have a baby H1C with the smaller inlet though. I want an elbow to fit the 3" inlet and adapt it to your size filter. Thanks, Robert

Thanks guys for all the info. I like the idea behind Amsoil dry filter (no oiling). Is that the nanofiber technology?

I think I paid around $70 for it. Their website says $90 something now. Heres a link to their air filter page. http://www.amsoil.com/a/catalog.aspx
