wheel tire and lift question???????

Hi all,

I am new to trucks have been into mustangs for years but know little about our cummins rigs.

here you go,,, i have a 08 3500 single wheel megacab, 6.7 auto 4wd.
I am going to do a lift 6" likely a Fabtech "dirt logic" 2.0 maybe the 4.0,

first question,,,, can i put a 2" leveling kit in with the lift and get 8" or so in the front? it is just a spring mount bushing right?

second question,,,,,, I want to run 37x13.5's on XD diesel 20x10's with a -24mm offset and 4.5" backspacing, will i clear these or should i go with 35's

Thanks in advanced guys,,,,
Casey

These trucks will clear 35's with just a leveling kit and yes you should be able to add a leveling kit for 8 in of lift.

Cool

If you add the 2in spacer to a kit designed for 6 in. , you will probably end up with a driveline vibration , from the front driveshaft.

I had that problem when I tried it with a 4in lift....

...as to the wheel/tire fit , the 37s won`t be a problem , it`s the 10 in wide wheels with 4.5 in of backspacing , that will give you problems...as they`re going to stick out 4in. farther than stock.

Between 5-6 inches of backspacing with a 8-9 inch wide wheel, there are people running a 10 inch wide wheel w/4.5 BS but the wheel is gonna stick out.

ok i guess where im going with this is i like the wide stance it doesnt bother me and i will add fender flares but i do not want them to rub when i turn or if i do go off road and have some suspension travel, should i just save myself the headache and get 35's, they just look so little on a 6" lift. Thanks.

If you do any off-roading the 37s are going to rub with the wheels you want to use....and you`ll most likely need to trim the lower portion of the fender flares if you get them.

If you really want 37s and no rubbing , add a body lift...or a larger susp. lift.

ok well i hate beating a dead dog but i will anyway, has anyone tried to run the 2" leveling kit with a lift and if so how did it turn out, i understand the drivline vibration issue but has anyone done it and had it or is this more of a speculation?

You can do it...a couple here have done it (not sure of the screen names?).

The problem is , it pulls the front axle back in the wheel opening. Not only does it look funny with the tires much closer to the rear of the front fenders, but you can`t get a proper alignment.

If you made/bought longer control arms it would work , but you would need to extend the front driveshaft ...and re-index the transfer case to lessen the angle on it(driveshaft).

I personally had problems adding spacers to a 4in kit....drove me CRAZY trying to fix the problems it caused.

They only make a 3in body lift...it`s hardly even noticeable on a Dodge , esp. if you add the "lift lips" or the factory rear wheel well liners to hide the gap.

I think Top Gunz offers an 8 in susp. lift for your truck.

If you`re set on 37s , you either need rims that don`t stick out as far , or more than 6in of lift....the bumper really isn`t an issue. You can trim the lower plastic (or take it off completely) if it rubs , but it won`t rub the bumper...

My current set-up (I need new pics) is 9 in total of lift , with the factory rims , with 1 in. billet spacers, and 37X13.50-17 Pro Comp Extreem A/Ts. They clear everything with enough room to wheel it , if I wanted to , and only just barely rub the control arms at full lock...they rubbed bad without the spacers.
