Assuming 2WD, first hub when out at about 75K, the other went out at about 88K. Dealer only part, $275. First change was about two hours (spindle nut was very difficult to get off) and the second i did in less than an hour. I have not discovered a way to rebuild my old ones with a new timken bearing.

here`s a new twist on the sealed wheel bearings on my 01 3500 .... (rwd) I noticed a strange noise when turning left, the noise would go away when I applied my brakes. so I figured it`s time to replace at least the front pads. but when I jacked it up , I found a real loose wheel bearing ... fearing the bearing had gone out, I proceeded to dismantle it (drivers side) Imagine my surprise when I started to remove the bearing nut and found it loose !!! apparently the rotation of the forward motion had loosend the self locking nut.... If I had not caught it early on, It could have caused some real damage..... So here`s a word of caution to any body that has a rwd dodge with sealed front wheel bearings------check dhe drivers side nut. the self locking feature on mine failed ----- mileage is about 113K

Does the caliper mounting bracket HAVE to come off to change the hub?
If I remeber right, those bolts are 18mm. I have tried to break them loose in the past to absolutely no avail. Looking at the repair man., I am going to have to get them loose.
