Wheel backspacing advice

A friend is wanting to put new wheels and tires on his 3500 dodge diesel. He does not want to lift it or add a level kit. He has found some wheels he likes, but is unsure if they will fit without rubbing. Most of the wheels he likes have backspacing less than 5.5". He would also like to put a 34" or 35" tire on them. One wheel he found is 18" x 9" wide with 5.25" backspacing and he would like to put a 325/60/18 tire on them. Will it work?

Also, what would need to be done to fit a wheel with 4.53" backspacing and a34" or 35" tall tire?

Thanks in advance for any help.

For a 9in wheel your going to need around 5.7in BS for a 8.5in wheel around 5.5in BS. Because every tire manufacture is a little differant it is very hard to say if they will rub or not. But these should be very close for most f the common tires.

They're not cheap but Walker Evans Racing has 17x8.5 and another size for our trucks with up to 6 inch backspacing with different finishes. $325 each, nice wheels.

I have 325-60-18 tires on my truck with 18"x9.5" rims with 6" B.S. and no rubbing. Unless you want your tires hanging way out and killing your wheel hubs find a wheel with at least 5.5" of B.S.
