Your table got messed up, but if I understand it correctly,

Basic will be about a thousand times better than the dialup you currently use..

That means your IP number won't change.
Without the $5, you get assigned an IP each time you log on.

You don't need it unless you're running a web server that can't have the IP address changing.

Mine's supposed to be dynamic (changes) but it's been the same since I got the service.
Sprint Broadband Direct wireless.
Doesn't exist anymore as in they're not accepting new customers.
I'm just keeping it till they totally phase it out, then I'll most likely get cable internet.

Are all routers also firewalls???

there tech people are coming over tomarrow for the test $10 Im out if Im too far from town .

Ill keep this thread updated in case others are interested.
so far it looks like wireless is $300 up front and $26.95 a mth not sure about hiden fees/charges and if additional hardware is required.

I could just go buy the EDGE EZ instead .........................but the ol' lady would kill me

Just a note. Needing a staic IP does not only apply to running a web server at home, it could be for many other uses. Such as, if you want to run remote desktop connection on your machine at home. I use this and I have a dynamic IP, but I changes very little. However, every now and then I'll go to use it, and that isn't my IP any more. Kinda sucks, but not worth the extra money to me.

Ive got a T3 link here at work and a 3 meg cable connection from home. The home connection is bundled into my cable TV costs, but its around $45.00 p/month.

Currently, the speed I have here at work is:

2004-10-25 10:12:49 EST: 3839 / 336
Your download speed : 3907938 bps, or 3839 kbps.
A 454.9 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 344086 bps, or 336 kbps.

(Upload seems a little slow, )
