What's the torque specs for the fuel filter housing cap? Giving me a hard time.
Last couple of times I've changed the fuel filter I have been having a hard time getting it to crank. This time I wanna do it perfectly no guess work.

Just snugg the cap on, it's plastic, and make sure you use the new rubber seal for the cap, dash some diesel on it to oil it up. As far as having a hard time cranking it. Cycle on and off three or 4 times to purge the air out of the system and fire it up.

It use to crank after 3-4 cycles. Now I have to do that, then spin it a few times, then cycle it a few more times, then spin it over some and hope it will crank.
Anyone else have this problem?

I just screw it on by hand, then make it pretty tight with a wrench.
You have one of those new filters? My '06 is just the lid that the filter snaps onto.

Yeah mine is an 07 5.9 which should use the same filter as you guys, 7 micron fleet gaurd. I decided to go ahead and wait till tomorrow to do it and just change my oil today... Reason being is my oil is out at my place in the country and I'll be there by myself.
I'm worried it won't crank back up this go around because the last couple times it has been giving me heck.
Maybe I have a weak lift pump????

It must be the 6.7's that have the different filter.
I just bump the engine and let it sit and fill up too. I suppose you could leave the cap off and see how fast it fills when you turn the key on.... Two person job of course!!

I just turn the key on three cycles with out cranking, then the fourth turn I crank it and it starts right up. I put the death grip on the filter cap but I do not use a wrench... I was warned by folks that have cracked their plastic caps that wrenches can be problematic.
