What's the deal with diesel prices?
Why are they so high?
Two months ago diesel was the cheapest fuel, now it's more expensive than high test gas???
Anyone know the reason?

Conspiracy theory time...
The hydrogen lobby know's that Diesel's can put them out of buisness, so they are pressuring state governments and oil companies to raise prices in order to prevent the sale of the new Diesels that are coming out in the next few years. Not many people will buy them since Diesel prices are higher than gasoline.
The oil companies are playing along because, if the U.S. infrastructure is based on Diesel, than the alternative fuel supply after Petro-Diesel runs out is Biodiesel. So, the oil industry has the option to to keep Diesel's unpopular and make hydrogen the next generation fuel, or allow Diesel's to become popular and have Biodiesel become the next generation fuel.
Now, they want hydrogen to become popular because they would have WAY mor epower over hydrogen availability. Instead of having thousands of people growing and selling fuel, only a few super-refineries would be producing all the hydrogen in the U.S. And they want to be in that position.
And, back to the idealist, hippe-green lobbiests, they hate Diesel's because they are too feminine and weak-wristed to like the smell. This coincides with the homosexual-allowance movement, which results in everybody driving around gay little hybrids, because they think that it's cool to be gay. Thank you California.
This theory also plays along with Nostradamus, who predicted that every president being elected in a year ending in a zero will die in office. (Reagan only lived because he made a pact with the ghosts of Jimmy Page. (No, Jimmy Page isn't still alive. (No, that's only an alien that looks like Jimmy Page who you see in all of the pictures.))) So, as Nostradamus predicted, Bush will die in office. This will be due to assassination from an eco-friendly homosexual who hates Bush because of his love for the manly smell of Diesel dumes. And, after the homosexuals assassinate Bush, Hillary Clinton, who hates Diesels, will outlaw Diesel engines. This will be bad, driving Ford (Onwer of Cummins, Inc.) out of buisness due to the lack of income from its Diesel branches, and allowing Hermann Munster's friends from overseas to set up giant car-corporations in the wake of Ford's demise.
Than a metoer will crash into Earth and we'll all die.

It makes no sense at all. Diesel is a by product of gasoline. It appears like they are pricing it that way because - they can. We are at the mercy of the oil companies. I live in the town of a refinery and you would think we would have some of the cheapest gas in the country - but we don't. They deliver diesel/gas to stores 2 blocks from the refinery - $2.13'gal for diesel.

What's happening is higher diesel prices are subsidizing the gas prices. More profit on diesel allows less profit on gasoline, refiners make the same amount of money while at the same time keeping the majority who use gas happier.
