What's after the Edge? Tranny?

As per my post yesterday, I just got the Edge Juice w/ Attitude put on the truck. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, except the five mile drive home, and I didn't do too much playing then (wanted to read the instruction manual first . . . which is odd for me, HA). What's my next most likely mod? I'm no mechanic, and I'm no diesel expert (this is my second), but I know there are some fuel system mods that could probably be done, as well as some tranny work (the TC and VB). Looking at what I've got now, what would be a good next thing to add/change to make the truck run better/run safer/be more dependable. I'm still not looking to pull sleds, or run a 10 second (ha) 1/4 mile . . . I just want the truck to run like a champ and be safe if I'm towing or turn the chip up to 4. Advice? Thanks guys!

I would say your on the right track. A new pump like a fass, or one of Richards walbro set ups and while your at it maybe throw in a 2 micron filters, As for the tranny, if your not looking to do any boosted launches, you would probably be fine with a tc and vb, but Im a manual guy and completly sure on the auto stuff.

Tranny will be your next best upgrade. TC and VB should be fine for just daily driving and moderate towing. If you get the urge to play a little rough you might need the billet stuff.

Better investment to go with a FASS system first or upgrade the TC and VB? If I go with the tranny mods, where's a good place to start looking for the work to be done? Do I need to track down a specialized diesel performance shop, or transmission shops? I am guessing the FASS systems anwhere between 500 and 900 . . . what am I looking at for the tranny upgrade?

Tranny upgrade is what you need next. A TC and VB will hold 475-500hp and when I was at 500hp I was doing 8-10psi 4wd launches on all other stock parts. I would recommend Goerend for the tranny. About $2300 installed I believe and his TC has a lifetime warranty. He's up in Northeast Iowa. He'll give you a place to stay overnight if you drive up.

As far as fuel supply, you don't need anymore until you do the Hot upgrade to the Juice at which point you'll need a lift pump.

Can you physically feel a difference in the way the tranny shifts after the VB and TC upgrades? Does it shift harder, smoother, earlier, later . . . anything? If I go with the tranny upgrade I'm going to keep this truck for at least another 3-5 years to get my moneys worth out of it I'm wanting to get it "built" right . . . not for draggin or sled pullin, but just to make sure that the Strokers and Maxers stay in their place (in my rearview)

Feels great. What you can feel the most difference in is the tightness of the TC and how much more power it is getting to the ground. The shifts are a little firmer but mostly just quicker. The shift points will be the same rpms as stock.
