Wet tranny
As some of you might know, right now in the great state of Oklahoma we are getting a huge amount of rain. Every year i Waterproof the plug on my transmission. and every year when i hit a huge puddle of water, My truck will get stuck in third gear. It takes off in third gear and stays there. Does any one have a idea what causes this. After a while it usually dries out and shifts just fine.

Yes, you are getting water into the wiring harness somewhere. Probably at a connector causing a short or open. Look at the harness from the tranny to the truck. Best thing to do is check for water after it gets wet and has the problem. Good chance you can track it down then. Get some contact cleaner to clean the inside of the connectors. You must shut the truck off before you climb under and start pulling connectors apart.

Another good tip is after you check the wire connectors, spray them clean and dry, then fill the plug with dielectric grease. Stops corrosion and helps greatly with water. You can also use some self vulcanizing electrical tape, and wrap the connector creating a sealed wrap. One last possibility is the liquid rubber from Home depot or Lowes, you may be able to solve your issue that way.
