weight of a gen 2 Cummins

My nephew has the bombing bug and is thinking of a cummins swap to his Ferd pickup. Is there anyone or a website that has measurements like height, width & length at various locations. And what does a Cummins weigh, I heard it's right at 1000 pounds...that would be 350 more than his old FE . I told him if he got one I'd find a way to put it in and work. My fear is traction(lack of) and the starter being so low mounted. Of course he'd be getting GSK, and injectors and a couple other bombs ;D. My mental gears are turning and the cost of the little things is going up fast!

Re:weight of a gen 2 Cummins

Question # 2: Does a 1st gen auto work well with a gen 2? Like is it any different using the 518 vs a 47rh..it doesnt really need lockup and the extra wiring of such.

Re:weight of a gen 2 Cummins

I went out and measured mine, but didn't know if there was any real figures. I rounded to the next higher inch for error factor. It would be really neat to see, it's a '72 F100 shortbed. I told him about brake upgrades, at least a Dana 70 or GM 14 bolt, Linkages, and the can of worms to get it done.I still don't think it can be done for $3k(excluding engine/trans/ & rearend). He wants the least expected way to blow someone away, well that and he really likes black smoke! :

Re:weight of a gen 2 Cummins

Even if you upgrade springs and everything to hold it up, will the F100 frame even handle the torque. I used to have a 79 F100, 302, 3spd, it wouldn't pull the hat off your head even in a strong wind. It would be ugly to see him punch it and the Ford be twisted like a worm in the sunshine

Re:weight of a gen 2 Cummins

That's what I've been thinking. Besides the fact that anyone that has a Cummins laying around either has plans for it or wants too much$$$$ for it :. Maybe he'll like a 514 big block stroker instead. I think the cost would kill the Idea, since he has $3k to do it all :-X. A buddy of mine has a couple brand new ISB's & they're a pretty penny!!!!
