weeping leak in radiator side seam?

You never see any posts concerning the radiators in these trucks so here goes:

Noticed a small wet (red fluid) spot under left front corner of truck that got slightly bigger next day. After two days I stuck my head under there and it appeared to be trans fluid oozing where flex hose meets cooler hardline - are these supposed to be nipples with hose clamps (what I saw) or the infamous quick disconnects? Anyway, checked trans fluid and it was fine. Scratched head. Then noticed that coolant bottle was a little low. Suddenly remembered that I have red Rotella ELC in system. Ergo, cooling fluid leak.

Got out mirror and started really looking but can't really see up that side of radiator that well. Appears to be pinch seal ooze where core meets plastic tank. No radiator hose leaks on that side, no other leaks in system that I know of.

Question is - anybody else seen this problem? No damage ever to front of truck so not a residual from some past shock to radiator. Wondering if it is time to pull radiator but can you reseal these plastic tanks and have them hold?

I know it is not too bad to pull the radiator but how much will repair or replacement run?

Commiseration gladly accepted.

check with your local raditor shop, but generally anymore new rads with plastic and alum they just recomend replacing the whole rad with you have leaks where the two join.

Re:weeping leak in radiator side seam?

I was able to fix the rad on my old ranger by crimping the joint where it was leaking with a set of channelocks. May save you some cash and you have nothing to loose .

Good Luck

Re:weeping leak in radiator side seam?

There is a guy in the bitteroot of montana who can do custom full aluminium or brass replacement radiators 3 4 or 5 core depending on application he can make tanks larger, compress tanks or recenter the core to allow for an extra row which is what he did for me. anyways his company is BDL in FLorence MT his name is Bent hes an old sweed and his number i think is 406 777 2434. My opionion is hes really god at what he does, which is mainly heavy equiptment and custom jobs, but he saved me $100 off of my radiator over what everyone else wanted and he added the extra row.
