I tried this on help but no replies..driving today my truck began hesitating and had white smoke from the exhaust.. The dealer say I have a lot of water in the lines and should replace the lift pump along with the fuel pump. He said he hoped the injectors were not damaged by the water. The water light didn't come on and there is no way I can check the fuel I get..I usually get my fuel from the same station. Has anyone else had this problem...I;m still in my warranty on the motor.

did you check your water seperator--what ya get out of that

Ramblin. I think i would take a sample out from the bottom of the fuel filter after it sits all night and let it settle and see if water seperates out. Maybe get it tested to see if you do.DC is going to try and sell you some on parts that they can replace even if it is under warr. Anyway hang in there somebody will pop up here that really knows what they are talking about with somr good advice or this isn't DTR. ;D ;D

An empty 20oz soda bottle works great for this.

Sits right on the front differential (for those of us so equipped) so no spilled fuel.

Let it sit for a bit, the water (if present) will either sink to the bottom (oil floats on water) or look like little bubbles towards the bottom of the bottle (oil and water don't mix)

Right now the dealer has me at his mercy. I'm under warranty and he knows that. I'll post his findings tomorrow. I really didn't get a real confortable feeling from him. Thanks for your replys any ammunition will help

if the knucklehead dealer wants to replace all those parts let him do it as long as they're paying for it, it sounds a little extreme to me--now it could be a headgasket or cracked head also, but I doubt it's that--probably water in the tank---I'm guessing you have no mods on the truck--chris

No mods at all, I'm still concerned that the water in fuel light and alarm didn't light up or sound off. The possibility that the injectors could have gotten water concerns me....Is that a cummins problem if the warning system is not working?

The dealer said I got bad fuel, they indicate no problem with the injectors, the are going to check the water sensor, put in a new fuel filter and lift pump. Some will be covered by warranty. An interesting comment from the dealer was that Cummins have no responsibility with the warranty, Chrysler buy the motor from Cummins and they cover the warranty items. First time I was aware of that....

If you are under 100k miles, everything you just mentioned is COVERED UNDER WARRENTY! And I highly dought that they pulled the injectors to see if they were harmed in any way. Sounds like they want to through parts at it. Injection Pump, Lift Pump, Injectors is all covered under your warrenty to 100K miles. I wouldn't pay them a dime!

Got the truck back today, they indicated that I had gotten bad fuel and they dumped my tank, removed it and cleaned it, they put in a new fuel filter and LP (under warranty) Total cost $365.00. Everything seems to be OK. They gave me a sample of what they took out of the tank.
