Water Seperator : How Does It Work?
This was brought up on another board, figured I'd ask here, where all the experts reside : .

How exactly does the Water Seperator cannister work?

I was thinking Diesel floating on Water somehow, but that doesn't make sense if there is fuel/water constantly flowing through, being shaken not stirred by the vibration of the engine.

A guy there says he drains water (not diesel) out in large quantites once or twice a month?
I've never seen a drop of water in the year and a month I've owned mine.

phox

Re:Water Seperator : How Does It Work?
If I was that guy I would be changing where I got fuel and fast. I,ve never got water out in allmost 4 years, knock on wood.
I think the water stays on the bottom and thats why they reccomend draining it or it will build up and go into the cycs. ???

The filter media repels water, which settles to the bottom of the filter. It does get stirred up by running the engine, so if you drain it, do it before you start the truck or after its had a few minutes to sit.
