Facts:
Been raining in Central IL a lot lately. Now I have small amount of water on my passenger side. Completely rust free truck in great condition. Sealed back window and third brake light years ago to fix leak in back of cab. Has the rubber mat floor and no carpet. The A/C drain tube is easily seen sticking out about 1 inch from the firewall in the engine bay. Can't tell if running defroster adds water to the floor. Pulling back the mat from the top, it seems the firewall is dry heading down to the floor.

Questions:
Is the A/C tube supposed to have an additional rubber tube on it? Would door seals be bad? Where should I be checking to see if I can see the path the water is coming in from? I am going to start removing the sill plate and kick panel to see if I can see any traces of the path.

I put a short piece of curved vinyl tubing on that drain pipe to allow the condensate to drip away and not wick back to the firewall.
There is a cheap foam gasket between the box and the firewall that is SUPPOSED to seal the drain tube from the inside of the cab..
The foam isn't perfect, and over the years it will leak as the water has a tendency to wick back inside past that foam seal.

There have been several threads about this issue and lots of various fixes.

I don't have mud flaps on my truck and it throws alot of water up through the bottom of the passenger door. As cold as it's been here have you been running the ac?

i have had the same issue. if we get alot of rain my passenger floor is soaked but it almost never will do it so its hard to track down.

I have full running boards and it doesn't seem to matter if I am driving in water. I am pretty sure it is not splashing up/in or anyone is bringing it in on their shoes. (No passengers recently). I am running the defroster which actually runs the A/C to dry the air its putting on the windows. This is why the A/C drain mention. I haven't had a chance yet this week to run a wire in the drain tube. I will add a piece of hose to it as a precaution. I just wasn't sure if it ever had one. I have seen the "seal" around the tube and was wondering it it was adequate. When I was checking it out last weekend, everything looked dry around the tube area. I'll do some checking this weekend and post back. I think I need to take everything off the floorboard and see what I can find.

Sounds like condensate from the defroster. Make sure the drain tube isn't plugged with gunk from inside by running a pipe cleaner thru it.

Also, when I dropped the resistor switch for the fan speed control on the underside of mine and it was packed with fir needles so stuff can build up in there!

Removed the sill plate trim and rolled back the rubber floor liner (no carpet). Soaked and water standing! It is going to take a lot of work/fan/air to get the pad dry!
I was able to see that the A/C drain is definitely not the culprit. Not only is it currently dry, there are absolutely no marks in the dust coming down from it to the floorboard. I can see exactly were it would want to come down if it did leak and there is nothing.
I pulled up the mat going back past the quad door to the back. It is clear the water issue tapers off to non-existence. Doesn't lead me to believe any water is coming from the rear window or third brake light (as stated above, I had sealed these years ago anyway).
I pulled off the inner kick panel plastic trim and had to quit on the project. I still want to make sure the cowl is clear, but as I stated, there is definitely nothing that seems coming down from the A/C/heater/defroster area since there is still dry dust where it would run.
Once again, not seeing anything that looks like it is letting the water in.
Does everyone agree that a garden hose on the door seals is my next step?
This is getting frustrating.

For what it's worth.....I had a new windshield installed improperly a couple of years ago and it did the same thing. Windshield has since been reinstalled properly and the problem is gone. Good luck

I've got a similar leak on my '96. I've crawled inside the back when it is pouring rain and saw water drip down plasic covering rear speaker. I replaced the gasket going around rear side window, but it did not fix leak. I'm starting to think it may be where rear side window bolts to truck. I want to pull the plastic cover again and verify. I'll post back when I check.

Re-check your brake light. I tried a new gasket but now resort to R&R of the silicone every couple of winters. I know the time has come when the summer dry weather is gone & I get the 1st puddle on the floor. I've been through the list & it always turns out to be the light.
