Water in motor

Just drove the truck through a bit too much water. The water level was just about up to the doors before the truck died. I called a truck and had it towed out of there, but now it wont turn over at all. Any suggestions on what my course of action should be, other than filing the insurance claim?

If you mean the botton of the doors I doubt that you get water inside the motor as that is nowhere near the air filter or fuel tank vent. I would guess you have an electrical issue, I would figure out were that is and go from there.

The air filter is definitely that low because of the twin turbos.

Does the oil look like chocolate moose on the dipstick?

I had a 350 fill up with water in the crankcase in the boat one time when the water did not drain from the engine compartment. It entered the engine via the front seal at the crankshaft ballancer. I did not know it until I ran the boat and had steam coming out the PVC vents. It would not turn any RPM's either. Flushed the oil 5 or six times with some bulk oil, cheap stuff. Never had any more problems. In fact it use to use about a quart ever 100 hrs. It never used anymore after that.

if you even have any doubts id drop the oil. If you can hear teh starter load up when you try to turn it over stop. Ive see so many problems with bent connecting rods and cracked blocks from running with a fluid lock. If it does load up pull out the injectors one at a time and stick something down the hole and see if its wet. Make sure if you use a straw or something its long enough that you cant drop it all the way in. Ive done this on dozers with failed headgaskets that fill the jugs with coolant, just use a small plastic tube to siphon it out of any jugs that you find water in. good luck with that bud

Thanks for the help guys. I think my plan at this point is to pull the injectors, get all the water out I can, replace the oil, and see what she does. Wish me luck.

If you sucked water into turbo most likely hydro locked engine. Try using a fan wrench on engine fan to turn engine over backward.. If locked up remove all injectors and blow out water from cylinders. Reinstall injectors and keep your fingers crossed that you didn't bend a rod. If it still won't turn over after water is out then rod must have bent. You cannot compress water so the weakest part will give that would be the rod. I have seen this happen with gas engines, when people drive onto flooded roads, at high speeds.
