I've pushed the the drain on the bottom of the filter and there is no water. I've taken the sensor off and tried it dry, the light goes off. I dip it in a plastic cup of diesel the light stays off. I put it back in the filter and fill it with diesel, the light stays off. I screw it half way on to the filter housing and the light comes. I put it back together and am running the truck but I don't like it. The truck, a 96, has full power. Anybody had this problem?

maybe the sensor is going bad? mine was replaced right after i bought it since it like was stuck open and pouring out diesel. So i took it back to the dealer and made them fix it, they just ordered a whole new unit. My light was not stuck on as in your situation though. good luck.

I'm thinking maybe the wire is grounding somewhere in the harness
