Ok I seem to have a leak and cant find it, thought someone might have an idea. I resealed cab lights and i cant see a crack in the cowl, the windshield seal appears good still soft. The leak hits right about the emergency brake but a little closer to the firewall. Im going to repaint the old girl soon with new carpet and seats, i wanted to fix the leak before i put carpet in. thanks guys oh and gals if applicable

Could it be from the vent on the side (that I just learned about )

Mine is leaking from the cowl crack

yea, i cracked the little vent when putting it in and get a little water on the floor from it... but since it's just rhino down there i don't really have to worry about it... the rain has to be hitting the truck right to get in though, or truck parked at the correct angle i guess.

The weatherstripping can cause your leak, too, or if your door is warped/ bent a little, letting water in the cab. I have the same problem in my 92.

Floor board is still rust free, but it wont be if i cant find the leak. On mine theres a small metal shroud that covers the area where the cowl cracks, im thinking it may be hiding a crack, but only way to determine that is to pull the fender. What vent are you talking about ?

An oft overlooked source of below the dash water leaks is the wires/etc. that go from the engine compartment, through the firewall, and into the cab.

I fought a drip, sealing every possible place, only to find that the water was travelling on the wires that entered the cab through an oversized grommett.

On a less successful note, I have near had a nervous breakdown, fighting an up high leak that drips ice-water right on the back of my hand on the steering wheel.

I have pulled the windshield trim twice, removed the cab-visor three times, completely replaced the cab-lights, and used 37 gallons of RTV BLACK, along with tons of clear silicone, all to no avail.

I am seriously considering removing the cab-lights and pouring in some type of liquid rubber sealer, tilting the truck back and forth to spread it around, and re-installing the cab-lights.

Maybe you can tie a can under the leak, to catch the drip.

You could try pressurizing the cab with air and drive it into a lake and see where the bubbles come out.

Not a bad idea.... For a camper leak you seal off the windows and doors with plastic and in one window cover place either a leaf blower or the exhaust nozzle of a vacuum and go around with a spray bottle looking for bubbles. You would probably need to seal the vents also.

There is a horizontal slide on the wall next to the parking brake. it is directly below the dash. ---to open the vent, and get wind on your leg, pull the slide toward the back of the cab, to close push toward the front of the cab

I hope this helps, I would check that first.

92 you and miciafield are right i believe, after grabbing the hose and letting it run a bit, the water is coming from under that kick panel, ill pull it tomorrow,,,,this drove me nuts, i never even thought about that vent. thanks both of you and other ideas as well

Your welcome, I forgot you have a kick panel, I have a government type truck so all the interior I have is a dash, pastic door panels, vynil bench seat and rubber floor mat. So I can see everything else.... except for where my leak is coming from

i have had good luck with the rig running and the fan and heater on high then hit it with dish soap and look for bubbles.

Its a real pain. Im tired of that mildew smell every moring or afternoon when that moisture has been steaming cause of the texas heat. When I get the money for my repaint Im gonna get both cracks sealed and maybe even put in some cab lights

Once its all painted Im gonna pull out all of my flooring, sand and clean up the floor boards, give them a heavy coat of paint and put in some of that car audio sound insulation for my system and tempature as well. I might take that time and put in new seats.

I dream big, but pocket book is small......
