Wate Oil Filter Change Tip

Well I have been doing this for yeras and never thought of shouting it out.

Take a 5 gallon bucket with a lid .... Drill a bunch of ¼ inch holes a ¼ inch apart arround the circular rings on the lid in the innermost 2 rings and re install the lid. When you change filters just sit the old filter ontop of the lid up side down and leave it there until the next oil change. By then the old filter will be completely empty and you can then toss it.

Sounds silly but just wanted to send that one off to ya.

I do something similar. I sit it upside down for a few days and I punch a hole in the filter. The hole helps it drain and none reusable.

My big drain pan has a raised lip with an opening in the middle of the downhill arc to let filters drain. Cost some $$$ for it but I have had it for many years now. I like your 5 gallon bucket idea though. I am cheap (just ask my wife) and like the homegrown way to do things over the pay money for somebody else's idea approach.

Re:Wate Oil Filter Change Tip

I turn mine upside down in funnel stuck in a used jug until no more comes out. Then I usually kick the jug over and utter every profanity I can think of... . Seriously, I wish I could find a cheap transfer pump to get those 3 gallons of old oil into the three 1 gallon jugs to recycle. I always spill some...somewhere along the process.....and I hate saying all of those words. :
