Wastegate Fooler?

Ordered what I thought was a boost fooler like I had seen everywhere online. What I got was a little two prong plug with a wire in between the two connections. I have seen the other boost foolers that have two plugs with a box in the center. What am I supposed to do with this? Did I get the wrong part?

I think you gut the resistor that is needed when you put an aftermarket turbo on your truck. The aftermarket turbo does not use your factory electronic boost solenoid and that piece plugs in it's place and fools your computer...

So it's useless on my truck? If I unplug the factory solenoid and install this part will it just be blocking my wastegate without throwing a code? I understand it's intent is for mechanical wastegates.

All I know is that when a turbo like yours is put on a 305 truck like mine the wastegate will open prematurely at around 24-26psi. I think the same may happen on your truck if you install that. It just won't throw any kind of codes with that resistor in place. This is all what I "Think".

Now, I bet you could install that resistor and clamp off the hose to the wastegate and possibly get more boost out of that stock turbo if you put enough fuel to it. The other option would be the ATS plug that replaces the solonoid altogether and allows you to install a boost elbow and control your max boost that way. I have the same turbo on my truck and put a $1.00 clamp on the hose...

Well I think I might just sell it if I can. It would cost me more to return it than it's worth. Unless there are anyother suggestions. I don't see how that resistor will work at all unless I completely remove the solenoid. It looks like an end plug not an in line plug. Something would end up disconnected that needed to be plugged in.

Look a few inches from the solenoid that sticks out of your turbo. You will see the connection that you undo and then plug that resistor plug on the engine side of the connection...

Unplug the WG controller on your turbo, plug in your WG fooler to the harness side, now your WG won't open at all. You will get overboost code sif you push it over 35 psi or so. You need a boost fooler to tell the ECU it doesn't have enough boost so it won't open the WG.

The WG fooler is for when you swap turbo to something that uses a boost source to control the WG.

Ought the wrong part with guidance from a DTR member. No picture on the website and very little product description. Anybody need a wastegate fooler for an aftermarket turbo?

I had major issues putting an aftermarket turbo on my 07 truck and it was in regards to the need for the same part. I had "guidance" from a member here also which almost led me to needing major work on my truck over something very simple. The individual never did apologize for the misinformation.... It just goes to show that not everyone on these boards knows what they are talking about even though they may claim to. I don't think the guy did it intentionally but he did it nonetheless.....
