Question Washer Pump Wiring Question

Son's Truck #3 in sig.

Non-A/C cab.

There are two wires in a plug going to the blower-motor, a somewhat fat one and a slim one.

At the bottom of the washer reservoir is a plug with two skinny wires, one brown, the other ?maybe? black.

Someone has spliced a nineteen-mile long wire to the possibly-black wire at the washer plug; this wire takes the place of that wire, as it is cut off and gone.

This nineteen-mile wire winds it's way through a maze of black-tape, following a circuitous route, to end up spliced to a stub of wire that "piggy-backs" the slimmer wire at the blower-motor plug.

I am assuming that the washer-pump piggy-backs it's ground via this blower-motor plug.

Is this correct??

Between the rats, or whatever, chewing almost every wire in sight, and someone else's hack wiring and skotch-loks, it is good I enjoy wiring trucks.

Thanks.

Yep, Dodge liked to have as few grounds as possible so that whenever there's a problem it causes as much trouble as possible.

Your right on the trace. Wiring from washer motor g terminal to blower motor is 20 gage black then 14 gage black to C9 splice (rh side of cowl above blower motor) then 14 gage black to ground terminal left side of dash panel. Among other things, this ground point also grounds your 4 wheel drive indicator lamp.

Wink More Ground Is Better

While I had these wires cut apart, I went ahead and spliced in an extra 12AWG lead to the black ground wires and fastened it, with a sheet-metal screw and tooth-washers, to a hole that I drilled in the fire-wall flange.

One more ground point can't hurt.
