Washed motor - truck wont start?

I cleaned up my engine compartment yesterday, used Simple Green and a hose with a nozzle. Ran to the grocery store and back with now issues, but when I tried to start it this morning, it had a looooong crank, and ran like dog doo. I inadvertently cleared the code trying to remember at 4am how many times to cycle the key.
I remember a year or so back there was a thread on this happening with Quadzilla products installed, and water getting into one of the connectors - anyone remember that, and which plug is the likely suspect? It ran just like my original Xzillaraider on my 03 did, so I'm guessing its one of the rail or map connectors.

Rail pressure sensor is usually the one that fails after washing the engine. It's also usually the sensor not just the connector. It should set a code though...

if it is a hard code, it will reset right after you start it and won't be able to clear it and keep the light off.

Like I said, I saw the code for a brief second, then after another 15 unsuccessful tires, all I got was "-------". So I must have key cycled it too many times.

Pull all the connectors apart for the RP Sensor and Map sensor, look for water. This is one reason i don't completely wash an engine. It's such a pain in the tall to find which connector has water in it and ONE always gets water in it.

Yeah, I've been lucky so far - this is the first time I've had the issue.

Well, I'm not having any luck. I pulled and cleaned the connectors, got quite a bit of water out of the RP connection. Used a hair dryer on it, after hitting it with the air compressor. I rmoved the quad connections from RP and the other connection just to see if that would eliminate some of the connectors. Still get the hard start and rough idle. Used the Smarty to pull and clear the P0192 code, and still had it.
The connections look really dry now (both of them). I used a flash light and crawled up in the engine compartment to look down in them too. Could I have damaged the RP connector or something in it?
One other thing that really seems odd is that it ran last night, only to have this start this morning.

What could other issues be with the rail? I got it to idle, roughly, for about a minute. I then went back to check the connections again, and about burned my hand on the rail - should it get that hot that quick? Also, I noticed that the quad was showing zero rail pressure...
Gotta get something going on this - I'm supposed to be leaving to go camping on Friday.

Going to need a new rail pressure sensor.

If you want to clean your engine, you need to have it steamed.

There is a ton of parts you can break with a water hose and a nozzle including the ECM.

While all of the sensors and connectors are weatherproof they are not waterhose proof.

The best thing to do is let it all dry out and then go from there and don't wash the engine like that.

Our rail connector for the Xzillaraider is identical to the factory one. The only issue we ever had was on a particular Rail Gauge harness that was missing a seal. The Xzillaraiders never had that issue.

I'm not certain right now which harness I'm using - the Commander harness or the X2's - I'm guessing the X2 since it was the newer of the two, and had the RP on the pod.

I located a new RP sensor at Cummins NW for $212, and will be heading down there today to pick it up. 700 at my local Dodge dealer....wow.

Quad - I'm more interested in fixing the problem rather than laying the blame on your product. I knew ahead of time that it could be an issue, and that is my fault for not taking precautions. I will ask you this though: From my search on this forum and on TDR, it seems that of all the people who have washed their motor, AND have had this problem, the vast majority have had your wiring harness on it. There is something to those numbers - on this board you have a pretty good market share of the customers, but I'm not certain that its that much. I'm not here to hang you out to dry on it, but the statistical view of it seems to outweigh the engineering view (from my knothole!).

I wash my engine off everytime I wash the truck. Never had a problem at all. I do make sure not to spray directly on the distributor though.......

You might check the ECM. I have a friend that had a stock truck 04.5 and he did the same thing you are talking about. He unscrewed his ECM connectors and water came out of them. He let it dry only to find the ECM was fried.

It may not be your RP sensor? I am not sure exactly how to troubleshoot this because it could be a lot of things, I guess anything on the 5v reference could be shorted out as well?

Here is what I know about the rail pressure connection.

Look at the plug that goes onto the rail pressure sensor from our wiring harness. Compare it and the numbers on it to the connector on the factory wiring harness and tell me the difference. There is no difference. They are identical right down to the markings, pins inside and the seals around the wire. Why would our factory Bosch connector be different than Dodge's factory Bosch connector?

Now, Edge, TS, Banks or anyone else that has a box uses this same plug, same pin, same seal.

I don't think there are a lot of people hosing down their engines to start with and second I think more people complain about us because I come on the forums and take the beatings for some reason. You don't see the above mentioned companies doing that so I assume if someone else has a problem they call them direct and leave it at that?

I'm glad you do come on, seems like most the "good guys" are ignoring us now, I used to see quite a few vendors on here and now its just been bland. Keep it up.
