warranty

Does anyone know Exactly what the Cummings warranty is? Is it 5yr/100,000 period or 5yr/100,000 after the 3yr/36,000. Mine has 110,000 and is under 5 yrs old

It's in your warranty manual. I just read mine the other day to see exactly what it said. Mine has the 3yr/36,000 mile Chrysler warranty and then very clearly states the Cummins 5yr/100,000 mile warranty starts at the END of the Chrysler warranty.

Mine states the same thing. Cummins warranty (5/100,000) begins at the end of the Chrysler warranty (3/36,000).

I asked the dealer about this,

He goes to computer, makes a print out of the warrenty information,
and uses this for warrenty work,
The printout for my truck does not show an extension of the Cummins warrenty starting after the 36/36. I asked him about the Red book warrenty
statement regards to being after the 36/36.

His statement, We go by the " warrenty printout " from the computer.
If you have a problem , you pay and take it up with Dodge/Chrylser....

He was very specific about the use of the print out .

Yes, I know that there is an instance of Dodge Paying on the extended warrenty, but I expect that; either you pay or let the truck stay at the dealers untill resolved with Dodge.

My plan, If I need a pump, pay a Diesel shop, than submitt bill to Dodge;
under "emergency repair " clause in the warrenty book. If I get payed , fine,
if not, I will not be out the exorbant fee the ******* gets...

Note: I excersized the reimbursement clause on a extended warrenty
on the GM 6.5L, Got re-imbursed, no questions asked...suspect it will not
be as easy with chrysler..

As this is only my second Dodge in 35 years, I see nothing has changed,
with regards to quality and service... Cummins and jeeps are the only thing chrysler has going for them, and that may not be enough to keep them afloat....

There are now several success stories about DC reimbursing people for warranty work.

Just a matter of paying for it upfront and writing a letter to them.

There is a link on another forum to a whole discussion about this. Not sure I should post that or not. It very clearly states in my warranty book that the Cummins 5yr/100,000 mile warranty starts AFTER the 3yr/36,000 mile DC warranty.

Everybody thinks DC is warranter on the 5yr/100,000 mile after the 3yr/36,000 but I don't think that is true. I believe Cummins is the warranter on this part of it. Reason I say this is because mine had a Reman @ about 50,000 miles. To make a very long story short and without going into a lot of details, I know it easily fell within the 5yr/100,000 mile warranty period. Even though I didn't own it at the time, it sat in our yard for about 4 months with a shot turbo and seized #6 piston. One of the people my wife has contact with @ her work happened to be a Cummins rep. When he was in she remembered that and mentioned the broke down rig to him. He told her CUMMINS warranted the engine for 5yrs/100,000 miles and would pay to have it towed to a dealer of our choice and be checked out. If the breakdown was under warranty it would be fixed. If not they would tow it back at no cost. It was gone that afternoon and got a warrantee reman short block. My point is that the Cummins rep told her Cummins was the warranter on that part of it. In fact when I picked the rig up the service manager told me they did not try real hard to figure out why the piston seized since Cummins warranted it.
