Warranty expires in 560 miles until 36K
Allright fellow Dodge CTD owners:
I've got 560 miles until 36K hits the clock.
Not a thing is wrong with the truck. I bought her at 25.5K very pleased to have the factory backing for the first 10.5K miles as a used truck. Before I bought her, called DC and they said the vehicle had never been in for warranty service. Confirmed this with my local dealer when he changed to my name on their computers, etc.
After calling DC, I also have the 7/70 powertrain as my in-service date was late,(and I have the contract number for this) and definately the Cummins engine warr in my favor.
I tow my 3K Jeep once every 3 months, otherwise a daily driver,(no load or trailer,) just lots of highway, 40K a year........
Do I dare drop the $1500 +/- for the "bumper to bumper" coverage for the rest of the truck? 5/100?
I can't see it is worth it........worst case I go an additional 12K miles as you can still buy the factory warr. up to 48K..... if I spring up an issue before then.
thoughts?
Thx all,

I wouldn't waste my time with it. Only thing my extended warranty has paid for is an A/C compressor at 36,100, and a cruise control servo at ~50k. I've taken it back for several things, nothing has been covered.

I have always considered extended warranties a waste of money. It's like gambling, once in a while someone gets lucky but usually not me, it's the warranty writer that makes off good or else they wouldn't be selling it. Then again I am not everyone.

Put the money you would have spent on the extended warranty in the bank and you'll most likely have enough saved up to cover anything that should go wrong. Another plus will be that you can take it to a mechanic of your choosing rather than a dealer.
