I want a CB
I want to get a CB radio now that I'm done with everything else.(I know-for now) Which one, & WHERE TO MOUNT IT?
I want one with all the bells, & whistles. SSB,Mic gain, etc. I saw one of the Cobra 75 WXST.Remote, but sounds kinda cheezy. Any suggestions/experiences?
Thanks.

I have a Icom VX8000(not a cb) that I mounted using the mount from Genos Garage. It bolts under the center seat and goes between the seat and the cupholder. I like it 'cause it's sturdy enough for off road and doesn't get in the way.

I have been using a Cobra 75, handheld remote radio for some time. It is not a bad radio but needs a remote speaker for better sound quality.
I just ordered a new radio earlier this month, SSB with all the bells and whistles from RadioActiveRadios.com
Still not sure where to mount it, need to see some pics I guess to get a better idea how others have mounted them in trucks with handshakers.

These are some picutures of the small Geno's type CB mount with my old Radio shack CB. It finally died after 17 years. Have a Galaxy 979 ordered with power boost. I like the small frame of the 979.

i mounted mine on top of the dash in the center. the part up next to the windshield just pops off, so i routed my wires and drilled a hole in that piece so they just come straight out to the radio. I like where its at, the only downfall is the mic cord kinda flops on the dash unless i tuck it under.

Ramwheelsby4. I like that mount. Where does it actualy mount to? The floor, or the center seat. I have the exact same set up in my truck, & I think this would be the only place I'd mount one. Also, what antenna are you using, & how/where did you mount it? I have a slide in camper that precludes me from mounting an antenna on the roof.

The cb mount fits between the center seat/console bracket and the floor. You just loosen the two bolts holding down the front of the center seat bracker and slide the mount under it. It is very solid and simple install.
Don't laugh I have had a Midland window mount on the old CB and for me it was fine. Got out plenty far on the highway for my needs. I will put a front fender mount and Firestik antenna on the Galaxy when it gets here.

Since you have a camper you'll probably have to go with a fender mount and glass whip for an antenna, they work very well from what I've heard. I have a Wilson 1000 roof mount antenna, bored the big hole right in the middle of the roof, great ground plane, gets out real good.
That bracket looks like a pretty good idea, of course it will block the cupholders on the floor console in the handshaker trucks, but then the handshaker kind of gets in the way of them anyway, pretty useless place for cupholders.
I have a Galaxy dx-959 coming, I wonder how it's fitment would be with that bracket??
RamsWheelsBy4-
The Galaxy dx-959 I have coming is 7-7/8" wide x 2-1/8" high x 9-1/4" deep - how does that compare to the radio size you have in the pic?

I've been looking at the Galaxy 979, & Uniden PC 78 Elite among others. They all seem to be the same size give or take a 1/4". i think I'll have to get a fender mount& a firestick. Now I need to decide if I want to go with dual ant's to keep everything symetrical looking.

The old Radio Shack is W 6.25" x D 7" x T 1.5"
Unless they have changed the Galaxy DX 959 dimensions are W 8" x D 9.75" x T 2.5", at least that is the size measurements I got from Galaxy.
The Galazy DX 979 dimensions are W 7.25" x D 9" x T 2.25" and is one of the small chassis models.

Thanks RamsWheelsBy4 for the reply.
I got those dimensions out of the manual for the dx 959 radio. I'll have to take a good look at that brackets measurements in the Genos catalog. I have a MegaCab, the ductwork for the rear HVAC stuff runs under the middle seat. I may have to get a mounting bracket that has the extended sides and mount the radio vertically on the side of the cupholder/floor console. I have also considered a roof mount, could fabricate something that would extend out from the overhead console. I have even considered getting a pair of those storage things that goes where the visors mount, it looks like they have about 3 ins of headspace. Dodge didn't do us any favors with space to mount anything in these trucks or structure to make good mountings.

It might be for you, but I put my cb under my drivers seat, the radio faces toward the drivers door, I velcro'd a speaker to the carpet under the seat facing up and it work great. The only problem is you have to know your radio ***** by feel, and you really can't change channels... I did this because I only use the radio on long trips and wanted it hidden from site.
