Question wait to start problems

well ,i have a 93 cummins 5.9 with a whole lot of WTS problems and i guess electrical problems.first thing is the truck has sat a while before i bought it and put on the road in a shed mostly out of the weather.WTS comes on after u start the truck and stays on.will not have overdrive.second if i want overdrive i will have to leave the key on on position until WTS will flash with truck not running until it slows down and then remains lit for a few seconds with the water in fuel light and check engine light will shut off.then i start and now i have overdrive and my volts are were they should be,third now i have no interior dash lights or cab lights, checked fuse all good.battery is new and a 950 cca.is this enough for this truck? truck has been in my family since new and has had very little problems .only for me.stock other then turbo and some fuel mods, were can i start? please help.

Check and clean all grounds and connectors for the PCM and dash. The ground from the Battery neg to the core support is way undersize and tends to corrode. This will give you a start. If you do not have a factor service manual either get one or at least the wiring diagrams they help you locate all the connections. I believe Dodge recomends a 1050 CCA or perhaps larger, if you live where it does not get too cold 950 should work OK.

Sounds as if your pcm may be on its way out. I think the overdrive is controlled by the pcm.

I had problems with mine with the cruise and speedometer and constant WTS light. Changed out the pcm and put in an external voltage regulator, and it is charging now.

Take a look in the sticky for checking the PCM.

I suspect the ignition switch myself.
