Wait to Start Light is Delayed

My wait to start light does not come on right away when I turn the key to the on position. The light used to come on right away. Because I am in Houston, I hardly ever wait for the wait to start light to come on before starting(because of the temperature). Anyway, usually I put the key in and immediately start cranking the engine. It always fires right up. Recently, the wait to start light has been delayed. I have to wait about 5 or more full seconds before the wait to start light will come on now. Now, my truck will not start until the wait to start light comes on! Why? Is something wrong or going out?

It will crank over & over, but it will not start until the "wait to start light" comes on.

I just had it in the shop to clear the codes, but all of the codes they pulled were related to my rear wheel speed sensor going out. I replaced the sensor, and they cleared the codes for me.

Oooh... I remember reading about this problem once before on this forum. IIRC, it had something to do with the ignition switch being faulty, not allowing ignition on to register, but letting you crank the engine over with no fueling/firing. I know a few people with gassers that also had to wait a few seconds for a connection to make before the engine would fire.

Might not be your trouble, but I remember others on here having that before...
