is it the vp44?
on ocassion my truck will act like you mashed the throttle then it goes to dead pedal and acts like it wants to quit. first time it did it i ended up putting a new lift pump w/ autometer fuel pressure gauge just in case of future problems. truck idles at 12 psi cruises at 10 psi and 8 psi at wot. have reset and recalibrated apps. sometimes it will throw 1689 code sometimes it will not. with edge ez i get pretty good smoke when i mash throttle but before i have dead pedal problems it seems like it doesn't smoke as much . does any of this make sense at all?

I doesn't sound good. Be sure you get codes scanned with a scanner. It may kick one back that the truck doen't. I'd start a VP 44 fund with high interest soon. Some times these can hang around for a while but not many guys will bet on it. I think it is just a matter of time before it either leaves you stranded or simply quits.

I just read another thread where people said, Edge can cause this "full throttle / no throttle" issue. Have you tried disconnecting the Edge? Thread is here https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=145240

Disconnect the edge and try it for a few days there seems to be a rash the last couple of weeks with about 4 of them going bad like that same symptoms. You are always better to get the truck set up as close to stock as possible when you have an intermittant electrical problem it makes it much easyer to find.

i think it may have been air in the fuel lines. put hose clamps on all big line fittings. drove 30 miles so far no problems. i drive about 120 miles round trip tomorrow i ll let you know the results. next move is to pull the edge loose for a couple of days
