VP44 & FASS 150/95 LP installation?

I just installed a VP44 and FASS 150/95 LP on my 99.

The instructions seemed pretty simple. Once installed, can I take off the old lift pump, water seperator/filter and old fuel lines without any problems?

I am waiting for a VP44 adapter for a fuel pressure gauge before i attempt to start the truck.

Any advice from the do it yourselfers? Is it so simple? I would hate to burn up my new VP44 because of a simple mistake.

Well i respect your caution on wanting to know what you have before you run the truck. I feel every ISB should have had a fuel pressure gauge from the factory. BUT I feel you can safely get the FASS primed and running and be ok running the truck for a short period as long as you make sure you have fuel at the right areas before you start and run the truck. The easiest thing you can do is prime the FASS…then open up your filler cap and listen for return fuel. If you can hear the fuel returning, you can make a pretty good assumption that you have fuel pressure and things are a go. Because the only way the fuel will return is if you have enough resistance at the VP-44 to pop off the 13-14 PSI spring in the FASS regulator to allow fuel to circulate. But only do what you feel comfortable with.

As for your stock filter head, pump and lines, you can take them out of the truck. Just fill up the fuel heater plug and WIF light plug with dielectric grease or you can get a WIF light every time the plug gets wet.

And your post is somewhat confusing....you say you have installed the FASS and VP but you ask questions like you haven’t? The FASS instructions should be pretty straight fwd.....as for the VP....do a search for VP-44 Install on youtube. I got some vids posted up on there showing how to install one from start to finish.

Done!

Summary : I did it! It is all attached and I got the gauge to work. I primed the system and the truck is starting on the first crank with 15-17 PSI at idle.

Problem : I still have a check engine light on. I dont think it was ever cleared from at the dealership when I had it diagnosed. I think I can find on the web site how to clear codes.

Question : Could I have a new code because of the new FASS and VP44 System? Anything that i should be aware of, or be careful of, because of the new instalation?

OK...do this next:

Pull codes...write them down...and have them erased....then see if any repop......will give you a better idea of what is going on now that you made adjustments.....assuming that you drove the truck home.....you might have reset the code when you picked up the truck......OR if you turned the key when the pump was unplugged......any number of things really...get them reset and see if any repop....
