Hi fellas. My buddy's got a 98 24v in his shop with a bad VP. He was about to just swap in a new/reman VP when I mentioned that the lift pump most likely starved the VP, leading to its death. Soooo, both pumps will be replaced. My question is, what's the most cost-effective way to get the pumps? Reman is fine since the owner is short on $$$. I know you over-valved guys :D are gonna say FASS with a pressure gauge, but it's simply not in the budget. I see a new lift pump here in the classifieds for 125---is this a good ballpark? Just looking for opinions based on experience with the available aftermarket.
Thanks!

Some have used the Carter pumps from the local Auto Parts chain for ~$90.
The cheapest I've seen for the Cummins part numbered pump is $139.00
....Of course the Dodge dealer price is more than twice that.

Thanks. I'll look into the parts store brand and see what they've got. I'm trying to get this fella to spring for a FP gauge, but he won't budge. Now, anybody got a used VP just kickin around? [whistle]

the Carter pump at Advance Auto is $249 give or take a couple of bucks. if you go with there's since 98' was a half year you have to tell the retards there to look up for a 99' (some of the people i work with at Advance aren't the brightest sometimes)
