Voltage Regulator Output

Does anybody know what the specified charge voltage to the battery is supposed to be? Trying to determine if my voltage regulator is working correctly.
I'm showing 13.8-13.9 most of the time, which is too high for a float charge and too low for the absorption charge phase. Is this voltage typical on 2nd generation?
I don't know what kind of battery was original. I assume it was Sb/Sb (Lead-Antimony on each plate), as Ca/Ca (lead-calcium each plate) like GM uses would require an even higher charge voltage to get any kind of life from the batteries.
Thanks.

The charge voltage will vary with the ambient temperature anywhere from 13.5 -14.8, this controlled by the pcm. I can see the difference in the winter as the volt guage will be a little higher than it is in the summer.

Ok, thats what I wanted...thanks.
I guess my PCM is normal then. I see it vary with temperature like yours too.
Unfortunately, "normal" is not healthy for a set of batteries.
Maybe I'll add an external regulator that can be adjusted instead of the PCM. Batteries sulfate badly with this kind of charging system in our high temps.

The battery temperature sensor is under the driver side batt tray... You might play with altering the sensor's resistance value to "tweak" the desired battery voltage rather than delve into the PCM and it's built-in voltage regulator .

The underhood temps are brutal for virtually any component, especially L-A batts...
