Visual differences between HO and non-HO engines?

I'm shopping for used 03s and was curious if there were any distinguishing differences between the HO and non-HO engines.

Thanks,

Dan

Well, you could see which tranny and rear end it has in it.

Just curious, what would tell you that the engine is a HO or standard output by looking at the rear end?

Look at the data plate on the injection pump. The data plate will state either 305hp (HO) or 250hp (SO). Or 235hp for the Kalifornia version.

Here's a quike and dirty, open hood stand directly in front of truck. Look at valve cover that says CUMMINS, look to the right side of it and you will see a plate aproximatley 2x3 inches. It will have the hp output of the engine. ;D ;D
I hope this helps you out. :P

unless I remember incorrectly, the HO's got the larger rear end; the same as the 3500's. oops just realized I was looking at it from a 2500 standpoint.
