vin decode help and rear end ratio ?
is there a site or a way to find out the history of my recently purchased truck....
I figure the dealer must have some service history
its a 2003 heavy duty
vin:
3D7KA28C13GB46627
I also am curious if there is a way to know which rear end I have?
the towing mileage to california and back to colorado was only 12.2 recently with a 6,000lb trailer loaded... I wonder if I have the lower gears. Would it be worth it to put in a better rear end for gas mileage and will the other rear end handle a 6k trailer?
Thanks everyone in advance
I have a ton of questions as a newbie, and I'll start searching so as to not annoy everyone. GREAT SITE!

Carfax will give you the vehicles purchase/accident history.
This will give you the vin code info:
http://www.compnine.com/vid.php?vin=1GCEK39089Z178137
Your dealership might be able to give you info on maintenance history, but only stuff done by the dealership.

If you are intrested in any history regarding recalls and TSB's associated with your vehicle go to www.dodge.com. At that point click on the "For Owners" area, located top right. Then fill in the questions asked about your vehicle (vin number). I hope you find this helpful.
In order to get a "Build Sheet", look in the "For Owners " area for the heading Contact Us and click on "Custiomer Assistance". You can send a message via e-mail in order to receive the build sheet for your vehicle. You can also stop by a local Dodge dealer and provide them with the 17 digit vin number from your truck. They can print out a detailed build sheet with each option your truck has.
