vibration at idle

vibration at idle

Does any one else have an abnormal vibration at idle ??? the dealer has had the truck for another week now ,admits there is a vibration. but cannot figure it out.

First off you didn't say if you have an Auto or Manual Tranny. This info can make a big difference. The auto tranny does have a problem with a slight vibration due to the dip stick being tie wrapped to the heater hose on the passenger side.

Tell them to make sure nothing is grounding out on the chassis. If it is a slushbox do you have the vibration in reverse and drive? If only one way you usually have a grounding problem. If both ways you might have a engine mounting problem or imbalance. Sometimes the motor mounts need to me neutralized. HTH

its an auto & the vibration is there in gear or out of gear . its from idle to 975 rpms and pretty violent .the entire truck shakes .

Has the dealer done an engine power balance? If you have a miss at idle the truck will shake. Mine is a 6spd but quite smooth at idle. Not BMW smooth but I think it is good for an inline 6 oil burner.

ok i do not have anything at idle but when i am coming to a stop slowly it seems the whole dash near the window seems to vibrate... then when i accelerate slowly from a stop i hear it again...do you guys know what this vibe is? :'(
