VGT on a 12V??

I was just reading about the HY55 VGT that Banks used on their Sidewinder project, and how it's electronically controlled. They don't give any specific information on what kind of control is required to operate the VGT, though. Does anybody know if a VGT can be made to work with a mechanical 12V, or is the geometry variability based on electronic engine input? Thanks in advance...

VGT

the VGT turbo is PWM controlled by the ecm , it shouldnt take much to make a box that sense boost and control the VGT , they are awesome but I am sure they are costly , I have been trying to get our part man to look it up , just forgot about it, and I am sure there is only new available and no remans. yet

PWM = pulse width module
