valve lash on 06
in 06 cummins changed the exhaust lash from 0.020 to 0.028. i thought it was for material change, someone posted it was for more time on the seat for heat transfer. does anyone know why the change

From .020 to .026, I don't believe it was changed for seat time but to allow for the heat soak and expansion of the new material they are made of.

I am not sure of the specific alloy compounds they used. They changed the material due to the valve seat failing and separating from the head under high operating temps causing catastrophic engine failure. You can search valve seats in this forum, makes for some interesting reading.
