Valve Cover Gasket Under Warranty??
I went and picked up my truck this morning after the dealer told me the noise from under the truck was normal (see previous post in this forum). While the truck was in I had them replace the valve cover gasket. The service manager informed me (after installation) I would have to pay for the gasket and labor. I asked about the 100K warranty on the Cummins and he said it wasn't covered. I paid the bill but told them I was going to do my own research about this. Is the gasket covered and has anyone had it replaced on a truck that is beyond 36K (mine has 55k) with no charge? I kept saying the Cummins was covered for 100k and he kept talking about the powertrain. By the way, my "normal" driveline (previous post) vibrated terribly at 70 mph coming home. The whole truck was shaking. I feel I have a u-joint going and for some reason they just refuse to fix it.

I have a 03 and just had DC replace mine. I have 58k on the truck. What do they think the powertrain is? One reason that I drive a dodge!! I can scan in the dealer's invoice that shows $0 and that the gasket that was replaced by the warranty. There is a $100 co pay after you reach 36k, is that what you had to pay for? I had DC put a tranny in my truck 3 months ago and only had to pay $100 for that as well When they did that they put a 48re in the truck instead of the 47re that was in it ( so they said anyway) I don't klnow how to check but both the service sales man and the tech said that is what they did. Well worth the $100

the engine warrenty does not have the deductible untill after 5 years of service reguardless of how many miles. Ya file for your money back and give the dealership a slap up the side of the head.
I claim no responsibilty for slapping the dealer

So the $100 deductable does not apply to the motor even though it is past 36k? He kept telling me the warranty does not cover the gasket, insisting it only covers parts that the oil touches. You should have seen the look on his face and heard the silence when I told him that oil touches the gasket. Where can I find some documentation on this to show the dealer? Is it in the manual?
