Valve Body 05

Valve Body 05
Has anybody just installed a valve body without installing a torque converter? What were the results? I talked to the guys at Suncoast and they said that it wouldn't make much difference on its own.

It will, but not enough. I'm pushing 400whp, now 386 after exaust mods and 35" tires, and 762 ft/lb of torque...I talked to a few guys at DTT, and they said if I did a TC and VB, my input shaft would die FOR sure, and he was surprized I hadn't broken it already. It seems the bare minimum would be tc/vb/input shaft.

I talked to Jeff Prince (PRINCE PERFORMANCE DIESEL) here in Corpus, who is a Suncoast dealer, and he thought the shafts would last as long as I didn't get to crazy on power (new turbo(s). He did say the best thing to do is to have the entire transmission redone with a new VB, TC, Shafts, Clutchs, etc. I believe the performance transmission runs about $3400.00 and really by the time you put shafts in (parts and labor) your probably going to be out over $2000.00, so it might be better just to do it all at once. Jeff runs the suncoast tranny and it takes him to mid 10's over 130 mph in a dually! Like they say, "SPEED COSTS HOW FAST DO YOU WANT TO GO!"
