valve adj really necessary?

is it really needed? got 130,000 on the 02 auto. do i need to get soaked for the adj?? is it a home job? or should i have em do it when they replace the inj pump netxt week. they wont warranty it unless they do the work so...thats that

Yes , you need to adjust valves , I've read & heard many times , that there is a fed. law that says that you can have anybody do your maintance , including yourself , & still keep the warentee , just keep good recordes .
If you chose to do your own maintance , then get the factory manual only!!!

I just finished mine today...first I must say it is very easy to do yourself. Secondly it made the truck run much smoother and I noticed an EGT drop as well. Some of mine were out of spec a good bit

Mine was making a rather weird intake noise, once I did the adjustment the noise went away. My truck had only 70K on it at the time, and some of them were way out of spec.

Not trying to be a wise a--, but at 130,000 what kind of warantee do you have left. Mine was 7yr/100k mi. but when 100,000 came and went so did my warantee.( the shop manual calls for valve adjustment at 150k mi. but it woun't hurt to do it early. and the engine will run smother)

warrantys long gone at 100 grand. the pump job is comin this week. after i get my fule press guage in and the new lift pump arrives. i got a better deal than they gave me on parts. at least on the lift pump. ill let em do it. its a bosch service center with a yr warranty on parts and labor
